The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl this past February, if you didn’t know.

As the NFL Draft approaches, fans around the league are waiting nervously to see what will 'their' team does?

What need will they fill? Quarterback? Will they trade up? Or are maybe down?

All these questions are interesting to ponder as the draft starts to approach. In this mini-post, I will discuss, as an Eagles fan myself, one potential ‘steal’ of the late-first round.

There’s almost no anxiety in Philadelphia surrounding this year’s draft. They just won the Super Bowl. Some reports have them trading out in order to acquire more picks, They could go wide receiver, maybe Courtland Sutton or DJ Moore if they want to trade up. I would love if they went running back, ideally Derrius Guice from Louisiana State University.

In this post, I’ll try to explain why I think the Eagles should take Derrius Guice with the 32nd overall pick.

Guice, the 5-foot-11-inch 211 pound running back, brings power, agility, finishing ability, and one of the most aggressive running styles in years.

A backup to current Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette two years ago at LSU, Guice steam rolled through the Southeastern Conference by putting up more than 1,300 rushing yards and more than 15 total touchdown.

This year, after the Jaguars drafted Fournette in the first round, Guice took over as the LSU starter right away. Even though Guice struggled through injury, the Baton Rouge native still managed to amass 1,251 rushing yards on 237 attempts, which averages out to 4.5 yards per carry, He found himself in the end zone 13 times too.

I like Guice for a couple reasons. Reason one being work ethic. According to scouts, Guice is an intense gym rat, and an intelligent football mind who just loves football.. I think he'd perfect match with both Carson Wentz and Doug Peterson who mirror those characteristics almost perfectly,

Next, Guice bring versatility to the Eagles already diverse backfield. Guice can leave the backfield and catch passes. He can block as well as run anywhere; between the tackles and outside. He's honestly one of the most complete backs in recent memory.

The Eagles might lose Jay Ajayi to free agency next year and might be left with just Corey Clement, which is fine. They could always sign someone or draft one. But if they want to build off of their Super Bowl this year, right away, add Guice this year and see what happens in the future.
